Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation  (Tofino)

The Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, in Tofino, British Columbia. The Tla-o-qui-aht Nation and its people, are a nation with over 1200 Members. Tla-o-qui-aht people occupy the areas of Tofino, Long Beach, Meares Island, and beyond to west of Port Alberni. The nation is home to skilled fisherman, master carvers, talented artists, and culturally refined and skilled singers and dancers. 

Meaning “all along the mountains and sea,” the Nuu-chah-nulth language is spoken by 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations made up of 10,000 members in three regions on Vancouver Island’s West Coast including the members of Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation.

 

Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation dental program is served through a joint venture of Helicopters Without Borders (HWB), Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations and North Raven Dental. It is a novel and exciting program including the use of portable equipment to provide modern, urban quality dentistry in an equitable manner for the community members in a culturally safe environment.
